7 Tips To Avoid Business Travel Burnout!

Business travellers are called “Road Warriors” for a reason!

They fly most of the time to get the job done for their company while staying away from the comfort of their home and loved ones.

But business trips can become physically and mentally exhausting, which in turn can affect your personal and professional life.

To help you avoid getting burnt-out, we at AirWhizz have come up with a few effective tips that you should keep in mind the next time you go on a business trip.

1.Keep Your Routine Going

It’s easy to forget about the things that you usually do at home when you’re on a business trip.

Whether it’s working out, reading or meditating, make sure you take out time for these activities on your trip.

If you do this it will make you feel less homesick and help you cope with travel fatigue.

2.Make The Most Of Your Time

If you’re going on a business trip and have a flexible schedule, take out some time to explore the place.

Planning a few free days to wander off into the city lets you engage with the locals, experience the local cuisine, and indulge in the nightlife.

Not only will you make new memories but will also feel active and mentally refreshed when you get back.

3.Book A Vacation Home

While some business travellers prefer staying in hotels, others may start to feel claustrophobic in the small hotel rooms.

Today we have services such as Airbnb that can help you get a nice vacation home to stay in.

These accommodations not only offer more space, but you’ll also gain access to a kitchen to make your own meals and simulate the feeling of home that you can’t get in a hotel.

4.Maintain A Healthy Diet

Gaining or losing  weight is one of the first signs of travel exhaustion.

After all, its easier to grab a slice of pizza at the airport or skip meals when you’re working!

Try to keep a healthy diet to keep your energy levels up which will help you navigate through the new city , new people or new challenges.

Read more about “How To Eat Healthy When You Fly”.

5.Take A Break From Flying

Constant flying can drain you of your energy and make you unenthusiastic about doing the things that you love.

This is a sign of physical exhaustion and needs to be tackled ASAP.

Think about whether your physical presence is needed at the meeting. If that’s not the case, then you can cut down on your travel.

With this you will give your body some much needed rest while contributing and being involved in meetings while sitting at home or in the office.

6.Keep In Touch

Being constantly on the move makes it hard to stay connected to your family, friends, and colleagues back home.

This tends to cause a lot of stress!

Rather than allowing this to get the better of you, try to find as many possible ways to keep in contact with them while you’re away.

Nowadays, it’s easy to use facetime, texting and social media to stay in touch with your loved ones.

7.Stay Physically Active

We’ve mentioned work-out before, but if physical activity is not a part of your routine, then it’s time to buy a pair of running shoes.

If you’re a business traveller then being active and physically fit is as important as that spreadsheet you’ve been working on.

We know it sounds tough but following a workout schedule will keep you active and mentally refreshed while you travel.

10 Tips To Work Efficiently On An Airplane!

For many travellers, flying means going on a trip to get away from all things related to work.

But for some, in-flight time is just another day at the office!

Business travellers get their work done faster on an airplane because there are no office distractions.

But what about the lack of space or the constant chatter inside the airplane?

To tackle these things, here are some useful tips that will help you get your work done on an airplane, the next time you fly!

1.Choose Your Seat Wisely

With airlines increasing the number of seats and decreasing the passenger’s space to sit these days, it’s important to choose the right seat.

If you’re flying business or first class then its fine, but it can get really cramped up if you are working on an economy class seat.

Choose a seat in the emergency exit row or a bulkhead seat. These seats used to be free but now they cost extra unless you’re an elite frequent flyer with the airline.

So go ahead and start saving for your next business trip!

2.Have A Work Plan

Well before your flight takes-off, set a game plan for the work you’re about to attempt on the flight.

This means creating a timeline of what tasks you’ll do, what information you’ll need to complete that task and what end goals you’ll want to meet by the time the flight is over.

Trust us, this sounds like a hectic task but it will help you work efficiently and will make things easier for you on the flight.

3.Download Your Work

If you’re flying internationally, there will be huge possibility that your airline will offer wi-fi.

But if you’re flying in India, make sure you download your work well in advance since inflight wi-fi is not available on domestic flights for now .

Download all your important emails, spreadsheets, web page links for research work and store them in a separate folder. This way it will help you keep things organised.

4.Use A Tablet/Mini Laptop

One of the biggest challenges of getting work done on an airplane is not having adequate room for typing.

Rather than carrying a normal laptop, invest in a mini laptop which is light to carry and easy to use on an airplane.

You can also carry a tablet with an external keyboard which you can grab at your local computer store.

5.Carry An Extra Battery/Power Bank

There’s nothing worse than receiving a pop up in the middle of your work, saying that you have only 10% battery left.

This problem is being solved by power outlets installed in your airplane seat but many airlines don’t have this facility.

Airlines allow you to carry laptop batteries and power banks in your carry-on luggage. So take advantage of this and keep your device charged up.

6.Use A Screen Protector

Many people have this habit of prying into your laptop on an airplane. Who can blame them, sometimes flights can get a bit boring!

But if you don’t want people staring at that next best-selling book you’re writing or your top-secret spreadsheet, then invest in a screen protector for your laptop or tablet.

Screen protectors are designed in such a way that only the person sitting right in front of the device can see the screen clearly.

You won’t be distracted by your fellow passengers and can get your work done in peace.

7.Watch Out For Front Seats

If you’re not sitting in a bulkhead seat or emergency exit row, be aware of person sitting in front of you.

Passengers are mostly oblivious and tend to recline their seat without giving a warning.

If your laptop is pressed against their seat, chances are that your screen might crack or even break if they recline quickly.

To avoid this, let the fellow passenger in the front seat know that you’re working and request them politely to let you know whenever they plan to recline their seat.

8.Be Careful Of  Your Drink

When using your laptop on the airplane, be careful of accidental drink spills.

Whenever the cabin crew comes with the pantry tray, make sure that you close the laptop screen so that nothing will spill or splash on your device.

Also, power off and keep your device aside while you take a break and sip on your coffee. You’ll avoid any drink-related accidents and can give your eyes some rest.

9.Carry Noise Cancelling Headphones

When you have a lot of work to do and need to focus, noise cancelling headphones can be your perfect companion.

They help drown out the ambient noise and conversations happening around you. It’s also a subtle way of letting people know that you don’t want to be disturbed.

So go ahead and listen your favourite ‘work-mode’ tune or work in silence with those headphones on. The choice is yours!

10.Rest Before Your Flight

Everyone knows that travelling can be an exhausting task.

If work needs to be completed on the airplane, make sure you’re well rested before you start your journey.

If you do this, you’ll be productive throughout your flight and won’t be tempted to take a nap during your important work.

Working outside your office can be really hard and working on an airplane adds to that challenge. Hopefully, with these tips you’ll be able to get your work done efficiently the next time you fly.

10 Ways You Can Upgrade Your Seat To First-Class!

Personalized service, free-flowing champagne, specially prepared cuisines by Michelin star chefs and enough leg room to stretch your tiredness away.

These are some things that come to mind when you think about first-class travel on an airline.

Flying first-class is a luxury, no doubt about it, but it’s often expensive and not worth the money if you are travelling a short distance.

But, you’ll be happy to hear that, like most things, there are some loopholes you can use to your advantage.

So, if you want to travel in luxury, follow these simple travel hacks that can help you jump to the first-class cabin for FREE!

1.Travel At Non-Peak Days

If you have a flexible travelling schedule, try to book your flight on a day when people are less likely to travel.

For instance, try to book flights during the middle of the week and fly during dawn or dusk.

First-Class seats are usually empty during this time and you have better chances of scoring an upgrade.

Also, if you travel on holidays such as Holi or Diwali, most of the seats on the flight will be empty and if the cabin crew is in a festive mood they will upgrade you to the first-class.

2.Arrive Early

Airlines encourage you to be at the airport 45 minutes before the scheduled flight departure.

But if you have some spare time on the day you’re travelling, reach the airport early. It will give you ample time to chat with the gate agent.

The agent will have no queue or angry passengers to worry about and you can sweet talk your way to first-class.

3.Join The Frequent Flyer Program

Be loyal to one frequent flyer program of an airline and you will see what wonders it will do.

It may seem costly at first, but if you stack up your miles with one airline, it will help you get free upgrades to the first-class in the future.

4.Book Through The Airline’s Website

Try to book tickets on your airline’s official website, rather than using online travel agents.

During check-in, the airline system will know that you have booked on their website.

When its time to ask for your upgrade, chances are you’ll be treated as if you’re loyal to that specific airline.

Also, airlines send huge discount offers via email to people who book their tickets on the official site.

5. Check Your Emails

Building on the above point, many of us don’t check the follow-up emails that airlines send, once we book a ticket.

Airline companies know well ahead of time that the flight is going to be overbooked and try to offer huge discounts via email.

Since they don’t send these offers to people who book with online travel agents, chances are you’ll be part of a small minority of people receiving these emails for your specific flight.

So, the closer an overbooked flight gets to departure time, the more offers you get including first-class upgrades.

6. Use Your Connections

Know the pilot or a cabin crew member who works with the airline you are travelling with?

If so, then use that connection for all it’s worth.

Airline employees get amazing perks which they can share with their family and friends.

7.Travel Solo

Since you’re just one person, the airline will have a much easier time moving you up to first-class than they will with a couple or a family.

If you’ve got a preference and are travelling alone, it’s worth asking about an upgrade for any empty seats that might still be available in first-class.

Travelling by yourself may seem lonely at first but all that will go away when you’re flying first-class.

8.Fly On An Occasion

Whether it’s your birthday or your anniversary, let the gate agents know about it.

With competition increasing these days, airlines want their guests to have the best possible experience.

You may have a very good chance of getting a free upgrade to the first-class if you travel on or around the time of your special occasion.

9.Dress Up Smartly

Leave the cargo shorts and tank tops at home. Dress as if you’ve reached the airport from a business meeting and have been waiting for the flight in the executive lounge.

Chances are slim, but if you dress the part, business suits have done the trick for many people in the past.

10. Try Your Luck

Don’t be afraid to ask for an upgrade, of course they could always say no but what have you got to lose?

Dress well, be nice, talk sweetly and a “please” might just do the trick.

Can’t wait to experience the luxury of first-class?

Everything You Need To Know About Airline Baggage Rules In India!

Air travel In India has grown exponentially, and in recent years airlines have started cashing in on this.

Airlines have started charging a fee to bring extra luggage on flights.

With baggage fee rules becoming more complex and the fees getting expensive, It can be quite a task to keep a track of hand baggage sizes and weights for each airline.

To help you understand this, here is everything you need to know about baggage policies that most airlines follow.

Check-In Baggage

A)Baggage Allowance Rules

In line with international regulations, your baggage allowances will either be set by how many pieces or the total weight of luggage you can travel with.

The rules depend on where you’re travelling to.

1.Weight Concept

Passengers travelling from India to Far East(Except Japan)/Southeast Asia and Gulf/Middle East countries are allowed free baggage allowances based on the weight of the baggage and the class they are travelling in.

Usually, a passenger is allowed to carry up to –

  • 40 Kgs of check-in baggage in First Class
  • 30 Kgs of check-in baggage in Business Class
  • 20 Kgs of check-in baggage in Economy Class
2.Piece Concept

Under this concept, the airline allows free baggage allowance based on how many pieces of luggage you can travel with, its maximum weight and dimension.

Here are the rules-

  • A person can get 2 pieces of luggage checked-in for free.
  • Each bag has a weight limit of 32kgs
  • The total of all dimensions (Length, Breadth &Height) of each bag cannot be more than 158cm (62 inches)

Airlines that fly from India to Europe, North America, South America , Australia & Africa follow these rules for free baggage allowance.

B) Excess Baggage

Airlines charge you Excess-Baggage fees if your check-in luggage weight exceeds the limit. There is no standard price for excess luggage and it’s up to the airline to set the prices.

  • You will have to pay anywhere between Rs 300 to Rs 500 per kg for domestic flights.
  • You will have to pay anywhere between Rs 500 to Rs 800 per kg for International flights
  • There is no cap on the number of bags you can check-in, but their combined weight should be below the limit.

You do have an option to pay less for excess baggage. If you join different membership programs offered by airlines, you can carry more luggage with you without paying any fee.

For example, If you are a ‘GOLD’ or ‘MAHARJAH’ member of Air India’s “Flying Returns” program you can carry 20 kg of extra luggage with you.

Carry-on Baggage

A)Baggage Allowance Rules

With the growing emphasis on airline safety worldwide and to avoid overcrowding of overhead bins in the cabin, airlines are becoming stringent with rules regarding carry-on baggage.

Here are the rules for Carry-on baggage in India

  • Most airlines allow only 1 piece of hand baggage per person.
  • You can carry anywhere between 7-8 kgs of hand baggage, depending on the airline.
  • The length, breadth & height of the bag have to be less than 55x35x25 centimeters respectively and the overall total of the dimensions should not be more than 115 cm.
B) Excess Baggage

As mentioned above, most airlines only allow one piece of hand baggage per person, however, some airlines allow you to carry more than one bag depending on the weight dimensions and airline rules.

In addition to your carry-on bag, you can bring along the following items-

  • Handbag
  • Laptop bag
  • Rug/Blanket
  • Camera Bag
  • Collapsible wheelchair
  • Walking Sticks
  • Umbrella
  • Infant’s Carry Basket
  • Duty-Free Items (carry the invoice)

Airlines such as SpiceJet And IndiGo charge you a fee of Rs 350 – Rs 400  if the combined weight of the items mentioned above and your carry-on luggage is more than 8 kgs.

Special Baggage

If your luggage is not of the standard size & weight and if it requires special handling then you might have to pay more depending on the airline. These type of items are called Out Of Gauge (OOG) baggage.

OOG baggage is the luggage that is very heavy, too large, very light, fragile, does not have at least 1 flat surface or can damage or slow down the baggage handling management system.

Baggage that is outside the standard dimensions for airport luggage and cannot be sorted out by normal conveyor belts come under this category.

Here are a few examples –

  • Sports Equipment
  • Flat Screen Television
  • Extra Large Carpets or Blankets

10 Things To Bring Along On A Long-Haul Flight!

In recent years, travelling by air has become really comfortable and the flight crew does their best to keep it that way. But, travelling for long hours, especially on international flights, can get boring and tiring at times.

Long-haul flights are a test of endurance, whether you are a frequent flyer or are new to air travel.

But If you are well prepared and know what to take with you onboard, it can make a whole world of difference to your flying experience.

To help get you through a long flight comfortably, we have come up with a list of 10 essential items you must have with you onboard.

NOISE-CANCELLING HEADPHONES

Airlines these days make sure that there is minimum noise in the airplane cabin, but if you are a light sleeper, noise cancelling headphones can make it easier for you to sleep on the flight.

Also, headphones that the airlines provide are not that great when it comes to quality.

So, if you are going to spend several hours on a flight, might as well get a good pair of headphones to enjoy in-flight entertainment and help you doze off.

MINI TOILETRY BAG

If you’re travelling on an overnight flight, make sure you pack a small pouch of toiletries in your carry-on bag.

These days you get travel sized disposable toothbrush, hand sanitizer, toothpaste and dry shampoo spray so go ahead and take advantage of them when you fly.

SLEEPING GEAR

If you’re on a long-haul flight and want to avoid jet lag when you reach your destination, you’ll need to get some sleep.

Pack an eye mask and bring a travel pillow along with you.

You’ll be able to doze off easily with them and the constant chatter in the cabin or your neighbour’s reading light will not affect you.

TRAVEL WALLET

Use a travel wallet to organize and store all your important documents in one place.

They are deep enough and have various pockets to fit your cash, tickets, immigration forms, ID and passports.

Plus, it’s easier to pull out the whole wallet rather than looking around for different documents in your bag.

SNACKS

The food that is served on flights can make you feel bloated and feeling uncomfortable especially on a long-haul flight.

Fruits, salads, mixed nuts and vegetable sandwiches are all good options to bring on your flight.

Munch on some healthy homemade snacks while you watch an in-flight movie and skip the bland airplane meals!

Here are some tips on How To Eat Healthy When You Fly!

ENTERTAINMENT

It’s going to be a long flight, so prepare yourself to fill every hour with some form of entertainment.

Download some movies, songs, TV series or video games on your mobile or tablet before you leave as backup, in case you get bored of in-flight entertainment!

It will keep you entertained when you are done sleeping and will also keep you alert during the flight.

BOOKS/MAGAZINES

Bring at least one book or a magazine with you!

It will be useful when your airplane is landing/taking off or when you need a break from your device’s screen.

Also, it’s a good option to keep a backup if your tablet’s battery dies.

WIPES/TISSUES

Airplane lavatories are covered with germs and it’s easy to catch an infection.

Make sure that you pack some bleach wipes or sanitized tissues for your long trip.

Also, one more advantage of packing them is that it eliminates the need for liquids in the carry-on, they are easy to carry and don’t leak or spill in your bag.

MEDICINE KIT

Carry a small medical kit with you, regardless of whether it’s a long flight or not.

Dehydration can cause a headache, cabin pressure can trigger sinus problems, the lack of proper cleaning can set off dust allergies and strange food might give you stomach issues.

Be prepared for every situation and pack the medicines you think you will need or consult your family doctor.

*Remember carry only over the counter unprescribed medicines and check whether the destination you are flying to allows them.

SCARF

Avoid using airplane blankets and carry a long scarf.

All seasoned travelers carry scarves with them because they can be used as blankets when your airplane’s AC is at full blast.

Also, make sure you dress comfortably overall, since you will be in the same clothes during the flight and wearing loose clothing in the airplane will help you sleep better.

10 Simple Tips To Fly With Your Pet!

A few years back, travelling by air for a pet owner meant that they had to bid a painful farewell before going on a trip.

Today, that scenario has changed. Thanks to airlines and hotels becoming pet-friendly, you can now bring along your furry friends with you when you fly.

But you need to prepare yourself if you want to enjoy a hassle-free flight along with your pet.

We at AirWhizz have come up with a few simple tips you can follow the next time you decide to fly with your pet!

1.CHECK AIRLINE POLICY

Check whether your airline allows pets on board and if they do, carefully read the airline’s policy regarding travelling with them.

There are rules regarding the pet’s size and weight which you have to keep in mind.

So go through the guideline and restrictions mentioned in the airline’s policies multiple times before booking flight tickets.

In India,  Air India, Jet Airways, Spice Jet and Vistara allow you to carry pets on their flights.

2.BOOK EARLY

If the airline allows you to bring your pet along, you will have to book your flight tickets by directly calling the airline.

Also, airlines only allow limited pets on board.

So, the sooner you call them and book, the better. Also, it would be clever on your part to select a backup airline just in case the first option doesn’t work out.

3.VISIT THE VET

Now that you have selected the flight you and your pet will travel in, check whether your pet is fit for travel.

Consult your vet as to how you can keep your pet comfortable on the flight and whether they should be given a sedative.

Also, don’t forget to get the clearance certificate from the vet deeming them fit to fly and carry an up-to-date copy of the vaccinations that have been given to your pet.

4.GET A COMFORTABLE PET CARRIER

Buy an animal carrier which is comfortable for your pet and meets the criteria given by your airline.

A few weeks before your flight, take your pet out for car rides in their pet carrier. This will help them to get used to it and will be comfortable when they fly.

Also, attach an information label to the carrier with your personal details and the details of the destination you will be travelling to.

5.GIVE THEM SOME EXERCISE

Do everything you can to get them tired before getting on the airplane.

Take them for a long walk, play catch and spend time talking to them before leaving for the airport.

Get all that playful energy out and hopefully, they will be tired enough to sleep through the flight.

6.PACK YOUR PET’S TRAVEL ESSENTIALS

Pack your carry-on with things that are essential for your pet.

It’s important to make sure you have enough toys and treats to keep your pet occupied for a while during the flight.

If possible, carry a collapsible travel bowl inside of the carrier and place a few ice cubes in it on the flight.

Don’t be alarmed if your pet doesn’t play with his favourite toy. This could just be due to travel anxiety. Similar to how humans get butterflies when they lift off!

7.FEED YOUR PET

Feed your pet and make sure they are well hydrated before boarding the flight.

Many airlines suggest that your pet must be fed four hours before the flight’s scheduled departure so that they are comfortable on the flight.

Just make sure you don’t stuff your pet with food or give them too much water to drink. A pet with a full belly may vomit from anxiety and travel sickness.

8.ARRIVE EARLY AT THE AIRPORT

Once you’re set to go with your pet, make sure you reach the airport well in advance.

Pets need to go through additional security checks where they are weighed, measured and examined properly before boarding the flight.

Many airline policies state that the extra fee for carrying pets has to be paid at the airport and not during the booking.  Try to reach the airport as early as possible so all such formalities can be taken care of conveniently.

9.CONSIDER UPGRADING YOUR SEAT

If you want to travel comfortably on your flight, then you might want to consider upgrading your seat.

Your pet’s carrier will be eating up a lot of your seat’s leg room.

An upgrade would mean you will be able to stretch your legs comfortably and will get some extra space for your pet’s carrier.

10.EXAMINE YOUR PET UPON ARRIVAL

When you arrive at your destination, open the carrier as soon as you are in a safe place and examine your pet.

If something seems wrong, take your pet to the vet immediately. Don’t forget to get the results of the examination in writing with the date and time on it.

Follow these travel tips and make air travel simple for you and your pet. After all, your pet is also going on a trip!

If you want to know about your airline’s policies for carrying pets on flights, Simply download the AirWhizz app. Get all the information about your airline’s regulations regarding pets along with real-time flight updates on your phone itself and plan your trip on the move.

Juggling between gifts for the family and airline Baggage Allowance can be a tough task.

And that is exactly why lightweight luggage is so essential.

So save on baggage fees without having to leave anything behind and invest in your luggage!

BENEFITS OF LIGHTWEIGHT LUGGAGE

1.MOBILITY

Greater mobility means it won’t slow you down as you rush through the airport.

The materials used to make your luggage lighter ensure that it is easier for you to carry them even when they are completely full.

It’s great not only when you need to carry your bag through the airport, but also when you have to stowe it in the overhead bin on the airplane or pick it up at luggage belt.

2.SAVE MONEY
